There is a tremendous problem in
society: homophobia. Although Greek people in 305 b.C. were open-minded
regarding this topic, currently there is an homosexual taboo. The figure of a man as
a hero only exists for women. Years ago, men believed they had the strength to
dominate women.
First and foremost, you have to
respect other options. In other words, you can fall in love with anyone (man or
woman). It doesn’t matter the genre! Anyway, it cannot be easy to change the
mind of many people. For instance, between women, lesbians have a more dramatic
situation, because men think that they have the authority. For them, women were
a way to illuminate men. Also, women are trapped in a patriarchal system with
the figure of the family’s head, which rests on men.
As you know, it is hard to find a solution since if we live in democracy, we have to tolerate
different points of view. Despite that, I can’t stand old people who look at
me, as if I was strange when I am walking with another guy. But, if I want to
kiss my partner, will I be able to do that? Likewise, some political parties,
especially the right wing, don’t accept gays.
For a moment, imagine living in
Germany 1942... Nazis want to kill homosexual people! What I mean it is that
intolerance hasn’t been overcome yet. The main solution to change the world is
education; we have to explain things and emotions we are feeling.
Unfortunately, our behaviour is being controlled by society: having a family
and serving and supporting our sons. Stop, please!
